"Not until you've really screwed by a good story, and someone to tell." Here's the thing at the bottom of this show could be summed up in these words of Alessandro Baricco. This show is telling a story, a true story, a story of the factory, of laughter, but also of pain. This show tells the petrochemical business of Marghera, said in a nutshell is the story of 157 workers and 103 patients died of cancer in the liver and lungs. Dead and sick because of work they were responsible, in contact with the CVM, a carcinogen. The story of the case ensure that the responsible company (Montedison), were aware of the mortal danger that the workers were running, but instead to rehabilitate facilities and put them in safety, had preferred to hide or conceal the truth all the studies and documents prove the harmfulness of death CVM.
In the show we talk about the business of Petrochemical Marghera, seen through the eyes of Tully, a worker who has worked in there for 28 years and there is dead. Tully talks about his first day at work, the factory life, of evenings spent in the pub with workmates and how it can be born a question like this and no doubt will become a certainty, how long the road that leads from doubt to certainty, can meet first in disbelief, then fear, then anger and finally resignation. Then he also speaks of insecurity, the Thyssen accident in Turin and, more generally, of the dignity (too often) denied the job. Moments of complaint, of lightness and dramatic shift, as well as the acting is alternated with moments of live music, period films, audio.
The text comes from a study of books, articles, awards, television services, at times the same people bring back real testimony of family the victims of Petrochemicals.
